Singular focus

This week I posted a story in the genre and world I’m planning to write about. I wanted to start publishing a series at the beginning of the year, but I’m going to scale back a bit and focus on publishing exploratory stories each week as ways to prepare for the full series.

I need to practice finishing things. but I also want to make sure I’m moving in the right direction and finishing works that relate back to my goals.

Everything escapes and disperses. Continually bring it all back to one.

This quote from Robert Bresson speaks to me of what my task requires. If I don’t keep bringing myself back to a singular focus, then I’ll keep knocking over dominoes and find myself spread out thin. It’s not about never heading in a different direction. It’s about coming back.
