This week, I’ve been feeling anxious as offers for our house have slowly come in. I wonder if anyone will be interested enough to meet our asking price. The hardest part has been the waiting, as I feel powerless in this process. However, I reminded myself that we hired a vendor advocate and an estate agent to sell the house, believing they are our best options. After all, what more could I do besides agreeing to the first offer we receive?

At 5:00 pm, our advocate informed us that we had received five offers at or above the upper limit of our price range, along with one that exceeded the amount my wife and I had agreed we would want before deciding to sell our home. For the first time, I felt we were on the verge of selling our house, and my anxiety gradually transformed into excitement. We decided with our advocate to instruct the agent to negotiate a bit more. By 7:00 pm, our advocate updated us that the price had increased significantly. My wife and I could hardly contain our excitement; we were now convinced that our home would be sold that night.

Our vendor advocate just called to inform us that the house has sold. The final selling price exceeded our expectations by nearly fifteen per cent, which is an outstanding result. We will receive the contract for signing shortly, and can now begin the search for our new home.
