Some scenes in Japanese

I’ve always been an idea man. Implementation is my weakness. But this may be my time to shine during this brief moment before AI replaces mankind entirely.

Since learning about comprehensible input yesterday, I’ve been trying to find a good source for studying Japanese. It has to be at the right level for someone like me who is starting over again. My solution was to use AI to make a series of scenes written in English with Japanese dialogue.

With ChatGPT I put together five short scenes in less than an hour. I used the intro to each scene to generate an image on Ideogram using two other images for a consistent style. I think I’m just going to keep generating these so I can print them out and use them as a study resource.

Example: The Rooftop Cat

At dusk, Mika climbs the metal stairs to the rooftop of her apartment building. She leans against the railing, looking out at the city lights. Then she hears a soft meow. Turning, she sees a black cat perched on the ledge, staring at her.

“Konna tokoro ni neko ga…” Mika whispers.

The cat tilts its head. “Nyaa.”

She laughs. “Onaka suiteru no?”

The cat meows again and steps closer.

Mika kneels down, holding out her hand. “Daijōbu, kowakunai yo.”

The cat brushes against her hand, purring softly as the first stars appear in the sky.

Learning a new language through a story sound so much more interesting. My other fav approach is by watching dramas in their lang haha

I’ve started rewatching anime with the subs turned off. It can be a little frustrating because I don’t know exactly what they’re saying, but I trust my brain is piecing it together.
