Straight to super

I always find it satisfying to see my tax return hit my bank account, and this year’s was no exception. Seeing a number with three zeros on the end land in my account brought a small surge of relief and a sense of reward. It felt like a nod to a year of steady work, careful planning, and doing the right things financially, even when it wasn’t always front of mind. For a moment, I was tempted to think about what that money could do in the short term: a holiday, an upgrade, or a few lingering wants. But just as quickly, the longer view settled in. That return isn’t just extra cash; it’s an opportunity. A boost. A step towards something more enduring.
Transferring it to my superannuation account was the right thing to do. Less immediate, perhaps, but more meaningful. There’s comfort in knowing the money is now working quietly in the background, compounding over time and building towards a future life that will appreciate today’s restraint. It’s a simple act, really, moving money from one place to another, yet it carried a sense of intention. Not just receiving, but deciding. Not just enjoying the moment, but investing in what comes next.
