The lucky country

On our journey home from dinner tonight, my wife and I reflected on how happy we are in our new home and how fortunate we feel to be financially secure after all these years, which has made this move possible. However, it’s not just our financial stability that fills us with gratitude; we are also fortunate to live in a country far from major conflicts, to have received a solid education, to reside in a safe city, and to be surrounded by numerous family and friends. Our lives have involved considerable effort, but luck has played a significant role in shaping who we are today.

In addition to this luck, my wife and I feel blessed to have shared a stable relationship for over forty years. The reliability of our partnership has enabled us to grow and build wealth, which supports us now. Without that stability, accumulating our current wealth, developing long-term relationships with others, or having the opportunity to pursue our move to a new city would have been much more difficult. Australia is often called the “lucky country” due to its geographical advantages, plentiful natural resources, and high quality of life. We acknowledge our good fortune in living in the “lucky country” and are thankful for it, always mindful not to take it for granted.
