tinyinventory.app

So instead of working on totalcostofownership.app I bought another domain today. 🙈

Ever run out of dishwasher pods or tide pods? I did before and tried many inventory tracking apps. But all are overpowered in my opinion. I had the idea of building something for myself before, but picking up the enthusiasm for streaming and creating, I thought maybe that is another small app I could make.

Anyway, the domain is now bought and also the https://shipfa.st/ template I saw on one of @jasonleow s listing sites. Now I just need to make time to build stuff. Perhaps I try this “coworking” stream next week or so. I already prepared my streaming setup for it. Could be a way to directly attract some customers too.

That sounds like a good idea. This reminds me of when I was tracking my food. Most food tracking apps are overpowered, expecting you to track every item on every meal you eat. I focused on just recording the food I bought on my grocery trips and broadly categorized the items into fat, protein, carbs, fiber, or water. It was easy and I could see it working as my carb purchases went down over time.

Exactly! Although it might be helpful to be able to “move” inventory stuff between “storages”, but who needs that for keeping track of basic things? I’m imagining a simple tabular interface with buttons to add and remove items. Maybe with some categories and reminders (“you’re running low on xyz”, perhaps with some basic statistics so it could predict when you’re probably running out of things)

Using statistics would be interesting. The more you would use the app, the less you would probably have to update it.

I’m probably overcomplicating the basic idea, but… Maybe you could have the user estimate how long their current stock would last, then at periods if the user doesn’t update the count the app could ask the user to check how many there are (around the time they usually update.) “I think there are 3 cups of ramen left. How many do you count?”

You might be able to estimate when the stock goes up, as well, if the user shops at a regular time.

Good ideas and definitely something for a pro plan 🙈 . But now I know I need to start tracking stats right from the start, so I can use that data later on.
