What's your Weekly Review?
brianto2013 • 14 Nov 2021 •
The difference between a 10x week and a unproductive slog comes down to the quality of your weekly review.
Want a better weekly review? Ask better questions.
Here’s a simple framework that helped me:
Weekly reviews should hit on 4 Factors.
- Past
- Future
- Execution
- Reflection
There’s a great matrix you can check out on RadReads when you look up the weekly review guide-> ( I’m horrible at inserting links via markdown so until then…)
A great weekly review is almost like a comprehensive checklist.
It shouldn’t take you too long, nor should it be too short.
It should be brief enough to cover the important parts, yet forward thinking enough to save you time.
###Here are some example questions using the 4 factors:
Past + Reflection = How did I feel this week?
Past + Execution = How much did I get done? Which tasks took much longer than necessary?
Future + reflection = What is my vision next week? How do I want to feel next week? What are my intentions?
Future + Execution = (This may be the most important) What are my big 3 moves next week?
No matter what you do in your weekly review…
As long as you hit on these 4 points, you’ve covered all your bases.
Now that you have good questions, the next part you must consider is…
When should I ask myself X question?
Simple.
Choose the thing that you need most.
Feel like last week was emotionally draining? Perhaps you need more reflection oriented prompts.
Got an upcoming project? Spend more time on task dumping and prioritization.
*The secret to the weekly review is NOT…
- bullet journaling
- Todoist
- Checklists
- 750 words
It’s about asking the right questions at the right time.

Yeah. Journaling and structures is like making smoothies for me.
It’s a mixed bag 😂
Love that last question about 3 big moves next week. That’s sets the tone and pace. Will try that myself and report back!
Btw, heard you on Markdown links. A WYSIWYG editor is on the roadmap. Brandon’s been protesting about it too, so I’m pushing that forward in priority.

Woop woop! Even a Ctrl+e ( preview ) function would be fine too haha
@brianto2013 yes definitely building a preview function first (assuming that’s easier). The editor is a massive project to be done after the #100daysofmarketing madness 😅

“I’m horrible at inserting links via markdown” AMEN to that!!! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried using journals and structures for monthly/weekly reviews. Just not my bag, but I know people who swear by them. Bottom line is to find what works for you.
