46

Just turned 46 today. Officially tipped over to late 40s now!

Good.

A few reflections:

  • Age is just a number. Truly, I think your health age is more important. On weeks where I eat well, exercise well, sleep well, I feel years younger. So it’s more about state of wellbeing than the number of times we circled the Sun. Ideally.
  • Age isn’t just a number. It isn’t just a number when you don’t take care of yourself. Guilty as charged. And with kids, work, elders and all, mid-forties is realistically one of the hardest life stages to take good care of yourself. Most of us fall into this reality.
  • Age just is. But yet, your happiness is beyond age. It’s about what we work on, the people you love around you, how we spend our days. Being 46 just is.
  • Life in late 40s and beyond. Now I’m thinking ahead a lot more. How will I keep up with my kid in the coming years? How about retirement? How about savings? How long can I keep working at this pace? Will people still hire me when I hit 50s and 60s? I think 46 is when these questions start to hit hard…

Onwards, anyway.
