75 Hard, Medium, or Soft?

I was thinking about doing a fitness challenge and remembered the 75 Hard challenge. This involves a commitment to a number of health habits intended to increase fitness and mental resilience for 75 consecutive days. Yes, a streak. And just like a writing streak (the one I lost a couple of days ago), if you miss a habit, you start all over.

The daily habits for 75 Hard are:

  • TWO 45-minute workouts (one must be outdoors)
  • Follow a healthy diet (of your choice)
  • No alcohol (I don’t drink anyway)
  • No cheat meals for the whole 75 days
  • Drink 1 gallon (~3.78L) of water
  • Read 10 pages of nonfiction (audio books don’t count)
  • Take a progress photo

Since my schedule is fairly flexible these days, the list doesn’t seem too challenging, although the outdoor workout is immediately out for me because I know it’ll either be too challenging to stick consistently with it or it’ll cause unnecessary stress in anticipation of how I’ll fit it in the day. There ARE different variants of the challenge (medium and soft alternatives). I also don’t have to stick to any well-known fitness program. I can come up with my own.

I stuck to everything yesterday and I have only the 2nd workout for today, but I still want to explore an alternative that better suits me.

Are you up for doing a challenge? What habits are you looking to stick to for the next few weeks, months, year?

Wow nice, @haideralmosawi! Love a good streak challenge.

Is there a community around this 75 Hard? Maybe the social aspect would help too

@jasonleow There seem to be communities here and there but they might not align with my outlook. I intend to have fun with this challenge. It seems many of those drawn to the challenge want to suffer. 🤣

For now I have an accountability buddy (a friend from school!) who I check in with.

Nice! Yeah an old friend as accountability buddy is the best of both. Familiar, safe and trustworthy, and you don’t want to disappoint
