999 days on WIP

Hit 999 day streak on WIP.co!

WIP is much like the defunct Makerlog - a social media platform for makers and indie hackers.
It started off as a place to log tasks I’ve done, and being able to update tasks via their Telegram bot is a feature I loved using. But after a while, I’m really enjoying the vibe.
WIP has a different feel to it. Almost like social media, like Twitter/X for makers, because many folks also post about their jobs, or #life updates, travels. But I get to post the really granular tasks and stuff that I don’t usually share elsewhere. But it’s fine on WIP because for a task logger, it’s expected.
I love that granularity, not just for being able to look back at my projects for my own reviews/reflection, but also see how others build. Like Pieter levels, Marc Kolbrugge, and other interesting makers, you see stuff they might not tweet about because not engaging algo-wise, but interesting to builders like us. On Twitter, many folks are far more performative and polarised, but on WIP, it’s just “I did this” “I build this”. Plain vanilla. I like!
The best part: WIP is hyper-focused on building. No bait, no drama, no geopolitics, no toxicity, no spam, no bots.
If you ask me, with the algo going the way it is right now on Twitter, I’m not sure it’s great for maker geeks like me anymore. I just wanna build cool stuff, share about it, see others do the same.
Maybe the future is in hyper-niche social media platforms like these.
For me at least…
