AI slop

AI slop is becoming the new bogeyman everyone loves to hate.

Fair enough. Some do deserve it, like AI replies. But so-called AI slop from vibecoding is a bit grey.

Yeah it might create more tech debt than it worth.
Yeah it might expose your secret keys and make your app wildly insecure.
Yeah it might let people easily access confidential customer data.

But even without AI, this happens anyway. It’s not an AI problem, it’s a human (laziness) problem. AI just makes it way easier to be lazy.

But putting that aside, even if there’s these issues: If the SaaS solves a real pain point, if people are willing to pay, and if MRR is growing, then these are just teething problems to be solved later.

What’s AI slop in coding is just transitionary, selective incompetence… for a time. For the initial pre-PMF phase.

So let me ask you: If it makes you money and gives you joy, is it really slop?
Or do you just wish it is slop because slop making money makes your ego feel funny?

Is it slop or a slap?
