Analog task management

I sometimes feel the need to have an analog reminder or a way to guide my attention that isn’t a screen that can get lost among screens.

At one point I had an analog to do list that’s made up of a bunch scrap paper held up on a paper holder. It worked really well for me because I can focus on a single task at any one time.

But I feel like my demands have gotten a tad more complicated, and I need several other ways to guide my attention. For example, I want to have a grid with all the projects I’m working on. Maybe I can use an arrow post-it note to remind myself what project I should be focused on from the grid.

Having a tablet can also work, but there’s always a temptation to switch screens, which isn’t possible with paper. I’m going to experiment with an analog setup today and see how it goes. But such systems often require a few months to get familiar with.

Do you use any analog reminders/task management tools? (Posters, checklists, timers, etc)

Nothing analog here. I’m digital all the way.

Mine is post-its! Perfect size, sticks everywhere, throw when done

@therealbrandonwilson I’d love to do that but my brain resists a purely digital setup. Even when trying Notion or other “tools for thought”, I have to have a paper/analog component for assistance.

@jasonleow Nice! And a great reminder! 🤣
