August 2024 goals

First, a bit of side reflection about monthly goals:
What’s the point of setting monthly goals if I don’t even act on them?
Just like how I did it for July. I set a goal to start small for a new product, but days laters I switched it out to freelancing without missing a beat, and basically gave up on shipping any new product for now.
But I think here’s the paradox: The whole point of setting intentions is in the setting, not the outcome. In this case, the means not the end, the journey not the destination.
Yes, sometimes we need to be S.M.A.R.T. and go for tangible output or outcome. For missions.
Sometimes, for visions, it’s broad, ambiguous and emergent. It’s evolving the moment you set it. Or rather, set out on it, the path.
You don’t know where exactly you’ll end up, but you know you’ll figure it out along the way. What matters is you started… with intention. And continue with it.
Change the plan, not the dream.
So it’s true – in switching to freelancing, I changed the plan for the month, but the dream stays. To stay in the game of indie hacking.
So for that, I think I achieved what I set out to do for July, despite things looking completely different.
But anywayyyy… back to August:
I’m just starting to feel more settled in freelancing. Still needs some time to feel competent, but progress feels good. I don’t want to rush things, so August will be another month for settling into the rhythm.
Meanwhile, I’ll try to get back on track on shipping for my existing products – Carrd plugins, Lists Kit, and yes, Lifelog! Let’s bring back Side Project Weekends!
I think after such a long drought mired in scarcity and fighting for survival , it’s a relief to just cruise along a bit in this new state of being just enough and not feeling like constantly drowning.
Normalcy is nice.
Onwards to August!

I think so too ✊

Seems like a good approach for this month.
