Best AI app for ___

AI is moving so fast, that even for a fan like me it’s been challenging to keep up. Like, I can’t even tell what’s the difference between these models (the obscure naming convention doesn’t help either):

And that’s just for OpenAI models. There’s still other LLMs from Anthropic, Google, Meta, and all the open sources remixes.
Too much noise.
Out of curiosity, I went to google/perplexity a bit about which LLMs are good for what uses. Complied here:
– Claude Sonnet 3.5: Exceptional at coding tasks, offers a balance between performance and speed.
– Claude Opus: Complex reasoning, mathematics, analysis, forecasting, and nuanced content creation.
– Claude Haiku: Fastest model in the Claude 3 family, ideal for quick, targeted tasks like content moderation and customer service inquiries.
– GPT-4: Strong general performance across various tasks, with particular strengths in natural language understanding and generation. It has multimodal capabilities, processing both text and images.
– GPT-4o: An optimized version of GPT-4, offering improved performance and efficiency. Excels in tasks requiring deep contextual understanding and complex reasoning.
– Gemini: Excels in natural conversation and multimodal tasks, processing both text and images.
– LLaMA 3.6: Multimodal capabilities for processing text and images. Strong in content generation and language understanding. Open-source, allowing for greater customization and integration.
– o3: Complex reasoning tasks, particularly in mathematics and coding, utilizing simulated reasoning
– Deepseek R1: Impressive at mathematics and code generation, handling long-form content and complex data processing tasks. Open source.
– DALLE: Specializes in generating and manipulating images based on text descriptions. Excels in creative tasks and visual content generation.
– Imagen: Text-to-image diffusion model known for its high-fidelity, photorealistic image generation with accurate details based on text descriptions.
– Luma: Image-to-video model to create videos from still images.
I think this means an opportunity for a new directory? 🤔
What other LLMs are there?

@therealbrandonwilson Indeed. Comparison to crypto is a good one! Tech bros just navel gazing!

@therealbrandonwilson YES! AI should be smart enough to use the appropriate reasoning model based on the question I’m asking.
@haideralmosawi I’m constantly amazed why they don’t already do it. When user hits Enter after keying in their prompt, it uses AI to read and decide which other AI is best for the task. Just a small simple step in the middle.

Way too much. This is an opportunity for someone to give me a slick UI where I don’t have to care about any of that behind the scenes. It reminds me of the complexity of crypto transactions.
