Born teacher

Now that SQL School is finished, I have been compiling the survey responses and post-assessment results to prepare a summary for the leadership team at my client and for my company. The response rate is about 65%, and I'm hoping to get a few more responses by tomorrow's extended deadline.

The comments have been very positive. I have to be careful not to let the effusive praise go to my head. One person noted that I was a "born teacher."

As I have been working to learn about myself and my purpose on this planet, teaching has come up again and again. I have experience as a junior high teacher, high school tutor, corporate trainer, and now online educator. It's pretty clear that I have the talent and skills for teaching. I'm good at it, and I enjoy it. Teaching is certainly a skill I plan to lean into for future endeavors.

It will be interesting to see if word-of-mouth gets around to other teams/departments that would spur my client to request me to run the course again. I don't think the Learning and Development team will be able to take my material and create an effective course. I've made myself the secret sauce.

I enjoy teaching, but I still feel like I have a lot to learn, especially when it comes to engaging disengaged students or students with confidence issues/learning challenges. And there are SO MANY opportunities for teaching! Maybe you can provide online courses for yourself on topics you enjoy.

Nice… I’m seeing some kind of ikigai emerging from how you describe this pet project. Pretty good product-founder fit!

@haideralmosawi Maybe a course would be a better avenue for me than a book. @jasonleow Good ol’ ikigai. The direct approach of figuring out my “purpose” didn’t really work, so I’m finding it through a more intuitive means.
