Budgeting health

My panic attack late last year forced me to pay more attention to my health, which involved supplementation (magnesium glycinate, l-theanine, goat kefir, and a few other things), a couple of online courses to help me lose weight and improve my sleep apnea situation, and a few other expenses here and there to make sure I’m making progress towards my target weight and the healthy lifestyle I want to be living.

But being healthy can be expensive! I need to treat it as a serious budget to account for, otherwise the expenses quickly add up and I’m left wondering where all my money went.

I especially need to be cautious about buying more expensive devices, such as a bed cooler, no matter how many people swear by it.

Do you have a fixed budget for health-related expenses? Are there any creative hacks you use to be able to afford health supplements and gadgets?

I do not have a fixed budget for health. I’m fortunate to have the means to spend what I do on all my biohacking tech. Certain activities, such as sleep, are so important and have such a high ROI that I will spend quite a bit if needed. I will track down podcasts and find discount codes. You can always start with all the free stuff first before jumping to the tech, e.g., breathing and EFT for anxiety.

There’s so many things to buy for health and biohacking, agree. Hard to resist the temptation at times. I try to just focus on the high ROI areas - (almost) anything that helps me sleep more/better, and anything to supplement what’s missing in my ketovore diet.

@therealbrandonwilson That’s wonderful! And I do appreciate you doing all the product reviews in Be Wellthy. By EFT you mean Emotional Freedom Technique? Have you written about this before? I’ve heard glowing reviews about the technique, but I’m not sure how reliable it is.

@jasonleow First time I hear of ketovore. Wouldn’t a carnivore diet naturally put you in ketosis?

Yes, Emotional Freedom Technique. I have not written about it, but it’s on my list.

@haideralmosawi Yes carnie does bring about ketosis. But many carnies don’t eat veg or dairy. Ketovore is like an in between, high protein, meat heavy keto who still take some veg/dairy

@therealbrandonwilson Thank you for the vote of confidence in the technique. It encourages me to not brush it off and to give it a try. 😄

@jasonleow OK got it. Thanks for the explanation. And sounds delicious. 😂
