Calm SaaS

Writing about SaaS yesterday got me thinking:

Is there even a SaaS that’s not mission critical, don’t necessarily need be have ultra high uptime, be constantly vigilant?

That means, none of these bs:

I don’t want to wake up at 3am to fix a server on fire.
I don’t want to have to bring my laptop on vacation ‘just in case’.
I don’t want to be super stressed trying to get my app back up with angry customers breathing fire down my neck because it’s a mission critical infrastructure for their businesses.

A calm SaaS:

  • Set and forget.
  • Light support load.
  • Emails only.
  • Non urgent issues.
  • No angry customers.
  • 3 days reply is fine.
  • No virality.
  • All SEO.
  • No personal brand.
  • Steady marketing.
  • No server (is that even possible).
  • One time payment.
  • Or annual non-recurring payment.
  • Can be mostly automated.
  • Or run by systems, agents, VAs.
  • I can disappear for a month.

But seriously… do people even pay for this?!
Is it even possible to have this kind of calm SaaS?

The few I can think of:

  • Digital products like ebooks, code snippets
  • Online communities
  • Vitamin SaaS, like widgets, analytics?

Anything else??
