Closed doors

Remember: Some doors close not to harm you, but to keep you safe. What feels like a loss today might turn out to be the protection you needed. Sometimes life moves you away from things before you even understand why. – @SeffSaid

So true regarding closed doors that protect.

This happened to me more times than I like to accord to luck.

This happened a few times when I did consulting in the past. Projects that I didn’t get awarded, initially felt like a fail. But later on, I would learn through the grapevine that the clients was a horror to work with.

Likewise with my indie projects. So many projects I wanted to do, or did and didn’t work out. Only for me to realise later on that it wouldn’t be something I had interest in the long term, or customers I enjoyed serving.

Building a website builder, for example. Too many edge cases, too much moderation needed.
Building something critical to customers that you needed to be available 24/7. Waking up at 3am to downtime is horror.
Building something that requires me to be an extroverted influencer to a fickle audience.

I tried, didn’t work.
Now glad it didn’t.

Some closed doors are actually blessings in disguise, via negativa.
