Code is the easy part now

Just saw that the Tailwind team had a massive retrenchment. Looks like AI is coming for tech companies now. Sad to hear. I enjoy using Tailwind. Hope they figure something out and stay in the game.

It’s crazy how Tailwind is more popular than ever due to AI, yet less profitable than ever due to AI.

Because they monetize by selling templates and components that devs see when they visit their documentation pages, but with AI, nobody needs to read the docs anymore, nor buy templates because AI can code it all.

Templates are dead.

Got me thinking… Should I be worried for my Carrd plugins?

It’s also selling code and templates, after all.

Granted, my customers are not devs but prosumers and normal business folk, people who don’t mind tinkering with a bit of code to add to their nocode Carrd sites. But for a subset of them who’s more familiar with coding, they would be using AI now instead of downloading my plugins.

The only edge is to target folks not interested to try AI-assisted coding.

That means, making things even more foolproof, beginner-friendly and easy to integrate.

More tutorials, guides, walk-through videos, and places where they can ask questions and get answers.

And all the marketing muscle behind that to get it to the masses.

Code is the easy part now.

It seems like the main risk is fewer people using Carrd altogether if AI can spin up a landing page based on a data dump. If they’re using Carrd they’re probably still looking for templates and code.

Are your Carrd plugins a liability, or an asset? Are there other ecosystems where you can adapt your best performing templates, perhaps using AI to assist in the transfer? Also, are you feeding your library of Carrd templates and code back into AI to generate more ideas and code?

Yeah that’s the main risk for the platform itself, but probably a small subset right now of Carrd users (as most are not interested to even learn coding). As AI gets easier to use and hosting solutions get easier to deploy, that risk will increase…
