Connecting the dots you've been drawing for years

So I announced that I’m joining Carrd on X/Twitter, and @andrewtsao had a great comment about how he sees me “connecting the dots you’ve been drawing for years”.
I fell in love with that description right away. Spot on. Accurate. Insightful. Because it’s so true – I’ve been working on Carrd for 3-4 years now. Started being active in Carrd communities on Reddit, Facebook and other platforms 2 years ago. I’ve been doing the work already anyway, so joining Carrd felt like such a natural fit.
It got me thinking:
What other dots have I been drawing for years? Where do I have a depth of domain knowledge for founder-market fit?
- Work in social impact and public good sector. This kinda explains why I felt so much in my element when building tech for good products. I’ve been drawing these dots for more than 10 years! So much tacit knowledge and experience hidden in that head. All it needed was a spark to trigger a cascade of ideas. That’s how I am able to spot gaps/opportunities confidently and ship fast.
- Coding in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Just as I’ve been working on Carrd for years, I’ve been building standalone plugins using plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript for years. This culminated in building a directory template Lists Kit. Plus all the frustrations I’ve been feeling about modern JS frameworks, I think maybe the next one is a SaaS boilerplate, with auth, Stripe and database.
- Diet and sleep. Not thought about this before as drawing the dots but in reality I am! Since 2019 at least for diet. Since 2020 for sleep biohacking. I wonder if there’s an opportunity there. Sleep and productivity for solopreneurs?
So what dots have you been drawing for years that you can now start connecting?
