Cringe means growth

A year ago today, I was talking about permissionless rest.

Almost feels cringe reading it.
Like reading one’s own writings from teenage years.

Rest is now a daily thing.
And I don’t need permission no longer.
I crave it. I need it. I know it.

The cringe is a good sign, though…

Because feeling cringe means you’ve moved along far enough to no longer empathy or sympathy, nor find excuses for that behaviour no more.

Because cringe means you’ve develop just enough disgust for past patterns that you know you will no longer slip back into.

Because cringe means your past self is gone. You’re a different person now.

Cringe means growth.
And that’s huge.

A lot of things can creep up on you in one year.

Forwards.

Would be an interesting exercise to feed all your posts into ChatGPT and ask for an analysis by year to see your evolution.

@therealbrandonwilson Right? You know we can do that? Download as JSON and feed it to AI, they love JSON. Might be a fun thing to do for 31 Dec!
