December 2023 goals

As I’m writing this, it’s cold and rainy outside. Classic December weather. The kind that makes you want to hibernate in a cosy corner by the window, under a blanket, with a cup of tea, daydream about the year past, or simply doing nothing.

Yes, doing nothing is December vibes alright.

This is the season when I usually go for a personal retreat somewhere in Bali, just to recap the year. But since becoming a dad, that’s no longer an option. I do miss it to bits. And trying to do a retreat at home just doesn’t cut it.

But I don’t feel quite ready yet to end off the year.

There’s still so much to be done.

So many ideas and projects I want to build.
More consulting gigs to be found.
A money crisis to overcome.
Family to take care.
A kid to parent.

Any one thing on that list is hands full enough. But yet I got them all going at once.

Can’t stop.
Won’t stop.

December this year won’t be a relaxed end of the year.

I’ll just have to squeeze in some reflection and review in between the pockets of time where life isn’t squeezing me in, squeezing me dry.

I’m not proud of ending the year so scatteredly. I feel scattered and stretched out.

But sometimes Life asks us to show up some place else, to be doing something else other than what you would have preferred. And the only way is to accept I can’t have it all, not overthink it, and just go do it.

Onwards.

Sending you support! I’m in the same boat of feeling scattered and not relaxing this month either (even though I want to hibernate til March), but we’re going to make the most of it. :)

PS I’m a single parent of two while running my done-for-you business (writing + consultancy) and building MRR, so if you ever want to chat about balance (spoiler alert: it doesn’t exist in the building stage) or how to manage all the things, I’ve got you!

Thanks, knight. It’s gotten a lot better as my kids got older. (I’m a long way from being alone and pregnant in my car, thankfully!) I still struggle, but I try to put it in perspective as much as possible. :)

@thecatstickler told me about it. My 3rd baby is going 1 year old soon, and the other two boys is giving me headache, but compare to you all these are just small matters.

@knight another person’s struggles don’t invalidate yours. Having 3 kids (with one being under 1, no less!) is hard. You only have 2 arms to wrangle them, so they already have you beat 😹
