Default settings and the subconscious mind

Default settings are great. They work for most people. The best part about them is you don’t have to think about them. That could also be the worst part about them.

The default settings in our brains lie in the subconscious mind. There’s the conscious mind that we control, and there’s the subconscious mind that exists beyond our direct control. The subconscious mind has our default settings and the settings we have programmed into it throughout our lifetimes.

How does one program the subconscious mind? A lot of it happens automatically and without much effort. Everything you see and read and listen to over and over again has the power to program the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind accepts what it’s told, whether true or false. Hypnotists tap into the subconscious mind, and you can, too, with certain types of meditation and daily affirmations.

I would like my default settings to move me toward success and fulfillment. The key is to have my subconscious mind working for me and guiding me toward the future I want.

I read about these concepts in Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, but I never really understood them until recently.
