Different consistencies

There’s a difference between consistency from tenacity versus consistency from obstinacy.

Being consistent from obstinacy is driven by foolishness, by lack of data, by ungrounded idealism. Being consistent from tenacity is driven by wisdom, by data-informed optimism, by humble hope. One is plain dumb. The other is nuanced pragmatism. One hunkers down with super efficient tunnel vision, doesn’t check assumptions or blindspots, does not collect data, and charges ahead recklessly. The other does the same amount of work, same effort, same output, but constantly questions if he is being effective, runs tests, asks for feedback, constantly iterates and course-corrects. Same routines, same actions, same rhythm. But completely different trajectory. One headed towards defeat (or is actually already defeated), the other towards eventual victory.

There’s a difference between consistency from tenacity versus consistency from obstinacy. A HUGE difference. Heaven and hell of a difference.

So which consistency are you?
