Don't mess with what's working well

Like they say don’t fix what’s not broken, I say, don’t mess with what’s working well.

The database for Lifelog was working well. Then Heroku wanted to update it just because. And broke everything.

A community platform I was part of was working well. People were engaging, participating, not complaining. Then the founder decided to change tech stack from ground up and code the whole thing from scratch again. He went as far as v0, with far less functionality as the original. And lost interest. The platform eventually got shut down.

I’m all good to take my driving test. I feel ready. But the more revision classes I go, the more chance there’s an instructor or car that will mess up my confidence. All it takes is a grumpy instructor, or a poorly tuned car. Just yesterday I had a car with a weird clutch. I kept making mistakes throughout the circuit, engine kept stalling, and maneuverers kept screwing up. The over-instruction didn’t help. I’d stopped the classes.

It takes more discipline to not do something about it than to do something and mess it up. It takes more to respond, not react. Sometimes throwing more attempts, more practice, more time at something isn’t going to help.

If it works, leave it the fk alone.

I’m still boggled that manual transmission cars are still a thing. I learned to drive on one, but how can one text-and-drive while shifting effectively? 🤣

Haha indeed. I think manual is its way out. It’ll become a niche hobby thing perhaps, for vintage car enthusiasts. Or for certain professions like construction. The cars I can rent when I finally get my license are auto gear. Makes me wonder why did I bother with manual
