Dreading the summer

My children look forward to the summer, but I’m currently dreading it. No school means my kids have a lot of time on their hands, which means they’ll want to go out every day and expect their parents to provide them with endless entertainment.

I don’t have time for this right now. I have SOME time for outings and family time, but an empty schedule for my children doesn’t mean an empty schedule for me. I want to encourage them to pick up hobbies. My younger daughter already plans on taking care of her health, which is a good commitment.

I’d love to cook with my kids (or at least prepare healthy meals and snacks, even if they don’t involve cooking). I just don’t want to have a nagging feeling that I have to do something with them WHILE I’m trying to work.

I might have to report back on this in 2 weeks’ time when all my kids will be off and I would have gotten a taste of summer schedule.

I thought kids keep themselves occupied these days (primarily through devices).

@therealbrandonwilson They spend some time on devices, but then they get bored
