Driving lessons VIII: The lesson of no lesson

Sometimes the best plan for a trip is no plan.
Sometimes the best advice is to give no advice.
Sometimes the best driving lesson is no lesson.
That’s exactly what happened today for my driving lesson. No instruction. Just “turn left here”, “U-turn in front”…
No nitpicking.
No over-correction.
No ‘positive’ pressure.
No unprofessionalism.
No unhelpful coaching.
No stress and anxiety.
No chit chatting.
Just letting me drive and make mistakes and self-correct.
At this tail-end stage of my learning, I learn more when they get out of my way.
But of course that begs the question: Why pay for an instructor then? The lack of intervention is questionable for sure, but this time I’m not complaining.
Because the best coaching is the one you need at the moment.
And I needed that.

Haha why tickled?
Tbh I kinda feel that too. All the learners I see are young 18 year olds. Few like me with white hair trying to pick it up at a ripe old age of 46

For some reason, I’m tickled by the idea of you taking driving lessons. Feel free to be tickled by my brushing up on Spanish.
