Father mode

So the one week school term break is over, and we’re now back to normal programming at home. Already, the routine is back, and it’s simply delicious.

Comforting, calming, grounding routine.

I’m not sure what happened to me since I started a family. When I was young, I hated routine. Now I embrace it, desire it, hunger for it, want to immerse in it.

It’s like a family edition of monk mode.
It’s like a hypnosis, almost. But in a good way.

Every day, just grinding away at the things most important to my life right now – work, family.

Money. Relationships.
Feed the family. Love the family.

Everything else is a distraction.

It’s a simple life. A boring one, even.

But there’s a focus—an obsession—to it that’s deeply enjoyable. For me.

Father mode.

Comments

Today is my first day in Father mode (AKA both kids back in school). School starts quite late in Spain (yesterday was the first day for the little one (7) and today was the first day for the older one (14). There is also football practice for the older one today, in about 2h I have to go pick him up from school and take him to practice.
I really can’t wait to get back into some type of routine again!

Father mode is on too; all 3 are back to school so that I can have some peaceful working hour in the morning.

I will take all your collective words for it on this one. This life, fatherhood was not in my master plan.

@drodol @knight Interesting how we crave the same!

@therealbrandonwilson It was not in my masterplan too.
