Founder mode 2026

If Steve Jobs started in 2026:

This is what founder mode looks like nowadays.

Just a $200 Claude Code subscription, a Mac Mini to run an LLM, and endless, infinite coding that runs 24/7.

No garage.
No basement.
No tangled cables.
No salvaged tables.
No bean bags and pirate flags.
No stacks of pizza boxes and Koolaid.

Just a solo founder, and employee No.1, Claude.

It’s so efficient, so economic, it’s almost poetic.

There’s no better time.
No better moment in history.
No better opportunity.

There’s nothing to lose.

I want to try it. I’m using Google AI Ultra right now since I’m mostly doing research tasks. In fact, here’s some research Gemini did on OpenClaw (the new new name) and cost management strategies.

@knight Gemini did the research. NotebookLM did the slide deck. My chat with the research says:

You can run OpenClaw on multiple consumer accounts to spread the load, but for an autonomous agent that manages files and runs 24/7, you will likely hit rate limits quickly unless you disable the proactive “heartbeat” and limit the agent to reactive tasks.

OpenClaw also collects a lot of context which it sends through the API, so you want to manage that.

For the models you set a primary model and then set fallbacks: other consumer plans, or a model aggregator. You could also run open models locally. And of course, OpenClaw could probably set up all these fail safes.
