Givers

There’s givers. And there’s takers. But most people give and take, in both directions, in different ways.

Then there’s some takers who just take. And take. And take. Even babies give more than these people. These are the people your mom warned you about. Stay away from them, even if they have a kind face.

And then there’s givers who just give and give, They radiate light, good vibes. Everyone loves them. Loves being with them. Loves working with them. Love simply hanging out. Ever felt really optimistic and hopeful after meeting that one friend? They listen, they pay attention to you, they give you their whole being. Their presence is a present. Everyone loves absorbing from them. And these givers love giving…. Up to a point.

“People like us don’t have people, we are the people that people have.”

The challenge is… these givers don’t have people who can give back to them. Usually they don’t have any. Or they are simply very selective. Most of the time, givers of the same breed are hard to come by. They might have one friend. Or two, if you’re lucky. And they don’t like bothering their giver friend because as givers themselves they know, it must be hard on that one giver friend. So they hold back, hold it in. Just keep giving. With no one else to give back to them.

Till they die. Or die of exhaustion. Or their soul fades.

Either way, the only way out is to stop being the light.
