GPT wrappers for B2B

Underrated indie hacker opportunity:

B2B SaaS, but in an industry you’re super experienced in.

Yesterday, I saw Rodrigo build a tool for property industry using GPT-4 Vision:

Late night 5 hours MVP using @OpenAI GPT-4 Vision. In the hospitality industry, one of the most time consuming tasks for property managers is: Creating property descriptions! But now AI can read images 🤯 The prompt needs to improve but the result is amazing! – @rrmdp

Shiny new tech, intersecting with a niche industry insight or painpoint, is the way. B2B ideas like this one by Rodrigo makes me excited about AI, ten times more than B2C wrapper apps. If you spent years in an industry before turning indie, I’m sure there’s a problem you’re uniquely positioned to solve.

Yeah, B2C doesn’t attract me TBH. It’s true about what you say, I’ve been in the industry for over 14 years as a dev. And I’ve been running my own short term rental listings biz for 3 of years, so I’m also facing property manager problems. This is what led me to this tool!

This makes me pretty excited for him, but also got me wondering:

What industries was I part of that I have unique insight into?
Which of these problems and painpoints are underserved by software developers?
What workflow can benefit from new AI technologies in the form of a SaaS?

For example, for social workers, taking case notes are really time consuming. What if a we could use OpenAI Whisper or some open source LLM, house it on-prem or on laptop to preserve client confidentiality, and use it to extract notes from the verbatim case notes/video recording, and summarize into a format required for reporting?

I few industries I’m experienced in:

  • Government
  • Social sector
  • Design
  • Entrepreneurship

What other unique insights do I have about these industries?
What kind of B2B AI SaaS can I build for these industries?

Time to brainstorm some ideas!

Comments

I’m so excited for you, and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I’ve been brainstorming B2B SaaS microproducts lately too. I actually write content for B2B SaaS companies, so I’ve been exploring ideas related to branding, content marketing, and community building. Mental wellness + personal growth, specifically for entrepreneur creatives, have been on my mind as well.

The limiting factor for me is mostly my complete ineptitude with tech, but I’m a big believer in putting in the hours to learn and using available resources to bridge the application gap.

PS As a former therapist who worked with a lot of kids in the CPS system and other agencies, the time it takes to document case notes is still a huge pain point. Like you mentioned, though, preserving confidentiality is a must, and I think that’d be the most challenging part. I’m no longer working in that industry, but I know many who are and who would invest in a tool like that!

@thecatstickler Thanks Cat! Yeah I didn’t know how to code initially too, but started with nocode. Many nocode tools available now to build stuff you can imagine.

Ah great to hear that it’s a good idea. Will brainstorm some more and see which one to pick
