I'm joining the Carrd team

Big news just dropped today:

BTW if you’ve noticed more activity on the official @Carrd account, it’s thanks to this guy 👇

@jasonleowsg

Creator of the super popular @pluginsforcarrd, volunteer maintainer on a number of Carrd communities and just an all around good guy. Welcome to the team dude 👊

@ajlkn

Now that @ajlkn announced it, I can share this too!

I’m joining the Carrd team! *shouts from mountain top

From day one of being indie hacker and starting on Twitter, I’ve been a fan of Carrd and @ajlkn’s indie hacking journey. He truly is one of the OGs of indie hackers, alongside folks like @levelsio, @yongfook. Over time, reading his tweets, hearing his podcasts, getting to know his thinking and process, only made me look up for to this guy. I love the calm way he does it. Just quietly winning, not making huge gestures or engagement bait, even when celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Arnold Schwarzenegger used Carrd. He even found a perfect blend of being VC-funded and bootstrapped – a logical impossibility to even think of for many in tech Twitter.

That’s why I’m so stoked to be able to finally work with AJ and his co-founder Doni.

But “joining the team” sounds huge. In reality I’m just managing their X account, helping answer queries, provide basic troubleshooting and support. Just 1-2h per day, as a part-timer. That’s pretty much it. My own indie hacking and consulting will be business as usual.

BUT! But even if it’s a small role, I’m still stoked af!

Onwards!

(Oh by the way, I can neither confirm nor deny AJ’s secret identity haha)

🎉Nice. Maybe you’ll find more ideas for Carrd plugins.

@knight They approached me actually. Initially I wasn’t so sure. But recently restarted the discussion with them and they found a role suitable.

@therealbrandonwilson Thanks! Same here… not sure what this will lead to yet but looking forward to finding out!

@phaidenbauer @tao Yes for sure getting paid. US$1500 / month for 1-2h work Mon-Fri… what do you think?

@Winkletter Already am yes! 💪

@jasonleow Sounds really good to me, but then again, I don’t have something to compare 🙈. My hourly rate at my employer (before taxes) is around €39.09/h, after Taxes €25.44/h.
At my last €29.07 before and €19.70/h after taxes (the minimum for people in IT over here) (Taxes include healthcare [21% iirc]).
For freelancing, I can charge €50 to €150 per hour (advertising agencies charged around €120 a few years back, so I could probably increase my freelance rate, though without customers that doesn’t help much).

@jasonleow haha I was feeling a bit paiseh to ask you the actual amount, but I think US$1500 is quite good, don’t forget they didn’t restrict you to recommend your own products, that’s another plus and you are on the first touch with the users, you can build things that what the user want easily
