It's just Jets!

I grew up in Indiana but know many people from Michigan, where my father lived and where my partner is from. I also have several friends who still live in Michigan. One of the claims to fame is "Detroit-style" pizza, which is a thick, rectangular pizza that is absolutely delicious. The OG maker of this pizza is Buddy's.

When my partner lived in North Carolina, she went to a Detroit Lions viewing party that advertised "Detroit-style" pizza. When she got there, she was disappointed to see that the pizza was from Jet's, which some regard as a poor man's version of Buddy's. I believe I've had Jets once, and it was unremarkable enough that I don't even have a food memory for it.

Yesterday, after a tip from someone on a networking call, we visited a nearby Michigan Marketplace stocked with Michigan favorites. To my surprise, they had frozen Buddy's pizza, which I didn't know existed. I picked one up, and it's currently tempting me as it sits in the freezer.

Pizza is definitely my weakness. I managed to go a year without it during my #ProjectFoodasFuel low-carb keto phase. The claim is that your taste buds change, so when I had pizza again, it was supposed to taste terrible. That's malarkey because the pizza tasted as good, if not better, than it ever had when I broke the seal.
