It's not a race. It's a dance.

“Run your own race.” they say.

I always try to tell myself that. That we’re all running our own race.

Then I immediately also catch myself asking, “Is it even a race to start with?”

Sometimes it’s a slow stroll through a flower garden.
Sometimes it’s a touch-and-go at a McDonald’s drive-through.
Sometimes it’s an arduous trek up to a shining summit.
Sometimes it’s a scary descent into a dark valley.

Sometimes we go in circles and learn nothing.
Sometimes we go in circles but actually we’re growing.

Sometimes you run against others, and the fastest to the finish line wins.
Sometimes you run alongside others for a bit, and each one wins when they reach their own finish lines.
Sometimes you run alone, and you win when you do better than your past self.

But we’re actually all wrong about it being a journey. Life is not a journey. It’s all just a dance. * god bless Alan Watts for that deep insight

So… it’s not a race. It can be a race. For a time. It can also come in many other forms. But we’re all just here to dance while the music is playing.

We just got to keep moving, walking, running.

Dancing.
