Konbini

A tech bro’s urge to leave tech and start a friendly neighbourhood konbini.

Every time I come to Japan, I geek out at how well-stocked and well-run these Lawson, 7-11 and Family Mart konbini chains are. They are convenience stores alright, but much more than a corner shop. There’s always freshly made onigiri, the best creamy egg mayo sandwiches, hot canned coffee on a cold winter’s day, cream puffs that’s out of this world, and a brief respite from the cold or heat. All delivered by super friendly staff always on hand.
It’s always so welcoming, so comforting.
Like a second home away from home.
Where there’s always food, warmth and shelter.
All of the basics in Maslow’s hierarchy.
Nowhere else do I feel the same about the convenience stores, not even in Singapore. We got 7-11s, but none of that vibe, truly.
Only in Japan.

lol, and I love the midnight discount for supper!
@Winkletter Wait what haha… now I wanna watch that. What’s the name of that manga?
@knight Yes every night before returning to hotel, a visit to family mart is mandatory!

I don’t think the manga has been translated, but I saw an AI recap.
Hazure Skill “Konbini” de Saikyou no Yuusha ni Nariagaru!

@Winkletter Thanks dude! Haha reading it now. What a weird magical skill to have

i think is on netflix? Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill ?
@knight That one is similar. In Campfire Cooking he has the Online Supermarket skill that let’s him shop through his status window. It’s 50% adventure story and 50% cooking show.

oh lol netflix got a lot of funny jp anime, like bring mobile phone back to sword and magic era, just that i got too little time to go through
Of course, there’s an isekai manga where the main character’s power is to summon a konbini that levels up as he gains exp.
