Melaka

Our first trip as a family since the pandemic! Headed up to Melaka this long weekend. All the things there we missed for far too long:

  • Bustling weekend night market run by locals
  • Fascinating speciality coffees and cafes
  • Oldest, quaintest letterpress shop I’ve ever been
  • Delicious Peranakan food everywhere
  • Lovely mix of old and new architecture

And the biggest thing I realised I missed the most was the sense of anticipation.

The optimism and hope of having a great time together.
That excitement of something enjoyable to come.
That desire for a future to unfold.

I knew this all along but this realisation just made it even clearer to me, just how much travel helps me.

That anticipation for a future, that daily looking forward to, is what makes life worth living. And for the past four years that lifeline was lost.

So glad I’m found it back.
