Multitudes

There’s this notion that you have to find your one true purpose in life, for life, and that it is your mission to do so in your lifetime, and you are not complete until you do. I call BS. This is up there with “Follow your passion” - equally bad advice, equally lacking nuance.
It’s rare to find your purpose for life, so instead look for your purpose for this season. What lights you up right now? What’s a good thing to dedicate this season of your life to? Perhaps more importantly, what purpose served you well in your previous season, but you have outgrown? Life is always changing. It’s okay to pick a new North Star. – James Clear
Mr Clear’s correct again. Why should there be just one purpose for each of us?
We have life stages. We have seasons. We grow and change with experience. We age and our bodies change. We play different roles as son, husband, father, grandfather as life stage changes. If we change so much, why tf do we need a single mission and purpose that defines us for eternity?
Who even gave the guy who came up with this the permission to decide for all of us? Screw the guy.
Normalize changing our North Star as often as we need to.
We contain multitudes.
We are multitudes.
