Name your price

I’ve been sitting on whether I should pitch for a project. With all the shifts in career motivations towards web dev, I find myself procrastinating. The only thing holding me back is money – web dev doesn’t pay as well… yet. And I would love to build back a comfortable cushion of savings which the pandemic had obliterated. Doing a good consultancy project might help me get there faster, though not that fast if it’s the usual one-week design sprint kind of project scope or price range…
BUT there’s always a price for anything.
I asked myself, “What price would make it worth my while? What’s my price?”
What would make it worth it to spend six months of time, get sidetracked on my indie projects, struggle juggle web dev freelancing on top of consultancy?
I think anything more than $150k would cut it.
If they can afford it, awesome! I get to do something I am interested in, paid well for, and feel congruent with.
If they can’t, well, no loss, I get to continue focusing on my web dev work and indie products!
So it is. Easy decision.

Don’t forget step 1. Is web dev a true passion of yours that lights you up tremendously?

@haideralmosawi Yes! Or a good approach to convincing myself to do something I didn’t really feel for in the first place… 😆
@therealbrandonwilson I’d say HELL YES to web dev. But if one consulting job can pull me and my family out of our financial situation (and it’s still interesting enough topic), I’ll do it.

This is a good approach to determine what’s worth saying yes to. 👍🏻
