Napless

I’ve been tracking my sleep score since 2020. Five years!

But more and more, I find that the most accurate indicator of my sleep is not the sleep score, not the raw number of hours in bed, not how fresh I feel when I wake (it never happens).
It’s when I don’t need a post-lunch afternoon power nap.
Yes that’s right. A nap. When I go napless.
Usually I take coffee naps after lunch. I eat lunch. I take a coffee. And within 30min or so, I would feel the slump for a quick 15min power nap.
But there’s days when I don’t feel the slump, I still force myself to go lay down a bit, and can’t fall asleep for the nap. Those days, I simply don’t need it. Usually it means the night before, I slept well, slept enough.
So if you’re doing your nighttime sleep right, napless is the effect.
Nap if you have to.
But napless is best.

Hah I don’t think I was ever opposed to it. Just that life stage meant I could not achieve napless state and had to nap what needs to be napped… until recently

I’m glad you’ve achieved this new life stage.

So now you’ve finally come around to my stance on naps…
