Never give up, but be prepared for giving up

Don’t give up, but don’t fail to plan for and be prepared for times when the universe want you to give up.
To never give up, you got to be prepared that moments of giving up will happen.
If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. – Benjamin Franklin
They say, if you think like you might give up one day, you’re not all in.
I think that’s poor thinking. It’s a false dichotomy. It’s zero sum thinking. It’s not either/or. It’s a skill issue, an inability to hold two opposing thoughts in your head where both can be true at the same time.
Like, I’m fully committed into making plans for tomorrow and turning up for it.
But I’m fully aware that there’s a non-zero chance I may never wake up from my sleep, thus spoiling all my well-made plans for tomorrow.
Am I lying to myself, or not “all in”, when I made the commitment to those plans? Of course not. It is true. But not waking up and spoiling said plans is also true (if it happens).
Likewise, I’m fully committed in indie hacking, no matter how long it takes.
But I’m fully aware that there’s a non-zero—actually, significant—chance I may never succeed, due to factors outside of my control, despite how committed I am.
One speaks from an idealist point of view, looking into the future, considering things as should be.
The another speaks from a realist point of view, looking at the present, considering things as they are.
Essentially they are different layers to thinking and acting.
We need both.
Never give up, but be prepared for giving up so that we may never give up.
