Not all consistencies are equal

Big things start small, but not every small thing can become big. You need to be on the right trajectory. Choose the right playing field and success comes more easily. – James Clear

So true.

You’d think, with my level of consistency over the years, I would be rich by now.

Far from it.

That’s because not every small thing can become big. Not all consistent actions are made equal. Just like some infinities are larger than other infinities, some types of consistency matters more than others.

Being consistent at writing: Awesome for mental health. But not so much for profit.

Being consistent at committing code: Nice for Github charts. But it doesn’t always move the needle on revenue.

Being consistent at tweeting and building in public: Great for making friend, socialising, going viral once in a while. But not necessarily helpful for your projects.

Being consistent at making money? Great for making even more money, and helpful for everything else.

And this indie hacking journey is all about learning over and over—the hard way—which consistencies matter and which one don’t. And having the will to change to those that matter.

That’s all there is to it.
