October 2023 goals

My intentions for October is simple: Survive.

That’s it. That’s all to it.

Just survive.

It’s amazing how clear things get when there’s a crisis. I’m still not in the clear yet with my finances. Long story short: A prior series of projects with a client got delayed, so cash runway got affected. I’m doing everything now to ensure me and my family get past this crisis.

But this had been also a wake up call. This is cutting it too close.

Beyond just surviving, I need to get my family to a place where we don’t have to worry about where the next few month’s income is coming from. I got to get back some buffer for savings, and then some.

So even if 1-2 projects come along and I survive, it’s not going to be enough.

I need longer term plans to get out of this slow death spiral that really started since COVID. Either a long term freelance arrangement, ramen profitable indie products, or worst case scenario, going back to a fulltime job. I can always continue indie hacking part time. The dream will always be there. But the fam can’t and shouldn’t go hungry.

Survive, and then sustain.
