Off to Detroit

I was awake twenty-five minutes before my alarm was set to go off. "What's this about an alarm? I thought you were Mr. No Alarm!?" Yes, I am Mr. No Alarm, except when I need to wake up at 3 AM instead of 5 AM. I got up when I woke up to take advantage of the completion of a sleep cycle. My Ultra Human ring is already barking at me about insufficient sleep (5h 15m), even though I did manage to pull off two complete sleep cycles.
I scheduled an Uber to pick me up at 3:30, and the ride was uneventful except for being trapped in a conversation about sports. I quickly pivoted the conversation to the universal topic of weather, and once the driver started talking about her kids, I was safe with no more sports talk. I did notice the gas light came on halfway to the airport, which would have alarmed the old me. I had already visualized a successful ride to the airport, so I was unrattled.
So much for Clear! My usual expedited path was thwarted by being closed. I wonder if it is due to the new requirements to have a "Real ID" in order to fly. I never bothered to "upgrade" my license, but I had my passport card and passport as a backup.
I'm looking forward to vacation time in Motor City.

I think the passport card still works for Canada and Mexico (unless they’re too pissed off at the US), but the actual passport is needed for all other countries.

Ah, interesting. So a similar concept to our civil ID (but we use our civil ID for all official procedures and identification within Kuwait, too)
Oh I wasn’t familiar with a passport card. We have passports and a civil ID in Kuwait. We can travel within the gulf countries (Kuwait, Saudi, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, and Oman) with the civil ID, but it’s not a travel document beyond that region.
