Overthinking

Overheard today:

Overthinking happens because you’re going against your intuition.

Think about it. Or wait, don’t think about it.

But it’s so true. For me at least. My gut had already chosen, but the intellect tries to bargain, “think things through”, and comes up with a million other reasons why this might work.

Behind the curtains, that million reasons is often fuelled by anxiety. Or fear. Or hurt. Or some misguided narrative.

It’s like a child trying to bargain with a wise sage, throwing words, excuses, ‘rationale’, plans, strategies, hope. Whatever he could get his hands on.

All the while the sage smiles.
And even goes along with the child…
Knowing full well the child will return to the right choice, when he’s exhausted.

Oftentimes it’s not about alignment with the Universe, as they like to say.
But just running those dogs so tired that they give up and sleep.

Tire out your overthinking.
And the choice becomes clear.

Or learn how to control and minimize it. I believe overthinking occurs in the absence of directed intention.

Yeah agree too. I like to take action - helps minimize overthinking.
