PHP procrastination

I remember those first day jitters in PHP land like it’s yesterday. Just June last year, in fact.

No matter how many times I learn a new programming language, it’s still scary.
No matter how many times I do this, I still hesitate to take the next step.

SSH to a server
Running a sudo command
Set up a database
Set up a database in unfamiliar SQLite
Add a client to view said database
Reading PHP code

Despite good ol’ Claude Sonnet doing most of the heavy lifting this time, learning a new language is always scary at the get-go.

Your body can never get used to the shock of ice cold water in the shower, but you can get used to expecting it.

Fear is inevitable, but procrastination is optional.

It might help to know what you’re intimidated by when it comes to all these actions/technologies. Maybe it’s imposter syndrome? Maybe it’s fear you’ll do something wrong and mess everything up?

Do you think it’s possible to know these technologies like the back of your hand and to love taking ice cold showers? 🤣

I think it’s fear of breaking things, fear of not knowing if I will break something. But it will pass. Just as it always do after some time using it and developing skill.

Haha I doubt I can ever love ice cold showers in the moment! But I can appreciate it before and after.
