Placement > performance

Mr Clear is clearly spot on again this week:
You can be authentic and hardworking and still struggle to find your footing if you’re in the wrong environment.
• A fun person trapped in the wrong city.
• A loving partner in a relationship that won’t reciprocate.
• A great entrepreneur stuck in the wrong business.Think about your placement as much as your performance. Plant yourself where you can thrive.
Soooo true.
I learned this the hard way.
-
An introvert trying to build an audience and make it big on Twitter. Not going to happen. I’m at 16k followers now, but so what. Dismal MRR. And the algo doesn’t even favour huge followings now anyway.
-
Borrowed dreams of building a profitable SaaS. I don’t really want to wake up at 3am to fix a server on fire, or bring my laptop on vacation. Vitamin products on monthly or yearly non-recurring revenue, might be better for me.

A do-er being a trainer, conducting training workshops, doing public speaking. Yeah I could do training by pushing myself really hard. I’m even pretty good at it, judging from feedback. But it really never fit. It always felt forced, and that’s not from a lack of trying.
I could list even more, how every time being in the wrong game never worked out, even when I outperformed everyone and put in superhuman grind. All I got was burnout and disillusion. I could list out even more times how being in the right game worked out for me, even with little effort. I should write that for the next post.
Placement outperforms performance, any day.
