Prospective problems

The current you deciding is not the same you who will have to deal with the aftermath of that decision.
That’s called a prospective problem.
Truly life-changing decisions like having kids or changing your career are impossible to evaluate properly beforehand. Because the future you evaluating it would have changed so much that whatever the present you is thinking is outdated and irrelevant.
It is 100% true about becoming a parent. If I overthink it, I probably wouldn’t become a parent. And I can recommend either way for anyone, either.
That also feels a bit like being an entrepreneur and choosing your ‘baby’ of business idea. Because the future you will have new data and battle scars.
Entrepreneurship is a constant becoming.
Growth is always ongoing.
What happens often is what you thought was a great idea ended up being pretty stupid once you got to the other side. And there’s no way to know until you actually acted on it, lived through the experience (or horror!), and survived to try again another day.
That’s why over-analysis seldom works.
That’s why we act first, ask questions later.
Ready, shoot, aim.
