Rainy Halloween

I'm glad my partner had the foresight to have us visit some local neighborhoods the day before Halloween. One, it was less busy, and two, it rained all afternoon and evening yesterday. It turns out it hasn't rained in Phoenix on Halloween since 1987, so this was a rare, wet Halloween. We went out for a quick walk, but the rain definitely dampened trick-or-treating.
I saw a couple of interesting trends that I don't remember seeing when I was a kid. First, people are putting up booths and selling food, candy, and baked goods. I don't remember anyone selling items when I was a kid. Second, many houses just had a bowl of candy with no one passing anything out. Maybe it was because of the rain, but I guess everyone trusts the honor system and chooses only one piece of candy instead of the handful I would have grabbed as a kid.
So now it's November, and we are all facing the same two months before 2026 is over. I am definitely not coasting. As difficult as it is not to get caught up in the societal inertia, I'm making a big push personally and professionally to finish 2026 strong and launch into 2027 better than ever.
