Self sabotage

Lately I’ve been reflecting on self-sabotage. I think there might be some of it affecting me, that’s why.

Usually it’s a self-limiting belief of some sort. Or a mistaken view of the world. Very often, it’s subsconscious and habitual. It probably came from our upbringing. We might not even be aware it exists, but it’s there, filtering our daily decisions.

And these hamper progress. If you feel stuck but not sure why, self sabotage might be it.

Like for example, a self-limiting belief I’m aware I have for a long time:

“Money is dirty”.

This one runs deep. You can earn good money, but you might fail to keep it, or sustain it. You don’t watch your spending. Investing—and any form of using money to grow money—is foreign to you. You dislike billionaires and the rich. You might not be poor or experiencing scarcity, but abundance leaks.

That’s been true for me. And I think this self-limiting belief manifests into self-sabotage when it comes to my indie hacking progress, especially revenue. If you push money away, revenue won’t come easy. And it’s not been easy for me to grow in revenue.

And I can do all all the right things, but when it comes to the crunch, or when a great opportunity presents itself, I might find myself unconsciously distancing away from it.

What can one do to overcome deep-rooted self-limiting beliefs?
