Shiny new iPads

The world is abuzz after the latest Apple event, which announced changes to the iPad line. The iPad Air got some upgrades and a bump in size. The iPad Pro has the most upgrades, with a leap to the M4 chip, OLED screen, and other improvements.
As much as Apple wants to push the iPad line for content creators, I have generally used iPads for content consumption. I'm not an artist, so the only use I've found for Apple Pencil is playing Sudoku. I also have an affinity for the MacBook Air, where the keyboard reigns supreme and I'm much more comfortable in MacOS compared to iPadOS.
Several years ago, I downgraded from the iPad Air to the iPad Mini, primarily because I was still traveling for work and made a concerted effort to travel as light as possible. The iPad Mini is the ideal device for watching content on the go and playing games. Now that I'm not traveling anymore, I wouldn't mind going back to a larger iPad.
I cannot justify a new iPad Pro purchase; my MacBook Air suits my needs. I might look at the iPad Air as an option for more comfortable content consumption and gaming without the MacBook Air on my lap all the time.

Air vs Pro only ? how about 11inch vs 13inch ?
Pro is overkill for me, so I’d go the air and probably the 13-inch.
13-inch is too large for me as my MacBook is 14-inch, and I want something smaller.
There’s kinda of weird grey boundary between iPad Pro and Macbook Air. Add a folio to the ipad pro and it’s almost like the Air ain’t it
I think iPadOS still has too many limitations compared to MacOS.
I feel like getting the ipad Air 13inch and no more getting any laptop
@therealbrandonwilson That’s true. But only for now, I think. Both OSes will get closer and closer over the years, I think.
My iPad Air is now around 5 years if I recall correctly, so having a new set of devices to upgrade suites my needs. But I’m between the lines when it comes to Air vs Pro. I know the Air would be more than enough, and I’m also fearing I bend the Pro because of its thinness (my laptop backpack is pretty packed when I’m travelling with all devices).
I think I’ll wait at least until WWDC to see what AI stuff they want to do on the M4. But I guess I won’t be using most of it anyway.
